And various line ups through the years

Zero Zero started in the winter of 1983 and made quick progress in the local rock scene, they won the ‘Best Unsigned Band’ competition run by Radio Clyde in 84 which gave the band a one off gig as part of the prize in Kelvingrove Bandstand which turned out to be their last gig under that line up in 1984, the band were an amalgamation of members from other successful local bands, Stevie Doherty from ‘Underhand Jones’ and ‘China White’, Andy Haansen, Duncan Macrae and Dave Ramsey from ‘Sidewinder’ and Joe James from ‘Red Ellis’ that line up split after the Kelvingrove gig in 84 (the old musical differences thing) Duncan Macrae and Dave Ramsey left and they brought in new guitarist John Macmillan from Cumnock (brother of James Macmillan the famous Scottish composer) the band spent a lot of time rehearsing in a studio in Monklands, Coatbridge, other bands rehearsing there at the time were The Big Dish, Hugh an Cry as well as a lot of other Art School type bands. The Evening Times Band competition provided the chance for the band to record at The Cava studios in Glasgow working with radio Clyde’s Bill Padley who later went on to co-write and produce for Atomic Kitten and Pop Idol winner Shane Ward. They signed to a London Management Company and moved to London for a while playing showcase gigs including The Marquee and made a couple of promotional videos with producer Douglas Gray at Mirage TV in Edinburgh also playing a weeks worth of shows at The Jailhouse during Edinburgh Festival in 1984. Stevie Doherty went on later to audition for AC/DC and to front The Sensational Alex Harvey band for a while, He has also fronted other bands such as ‘Peter Goes To Partick’ ‘The Racketeers’  and ‘A Saucer full of Floyd’  a Pink Floyd cover band.
