Blind Allez were formed in the 1983 by Guiliano 'Jools' Gizzi. He joined up with vocalist Peter Scallan and recruited bassist Cami Morlotti. The band started writing and rehearsing acoustically in a bedroom just off Abercromby Street, Calton, Glasgow.  After answering an advert in a local news paper Chris Bowes was brought in on guitar with Alan Thornton on drums. The boys rehearsed with this line-up for a short while before they realised another guitarist was needed to complete the overall sound, Ian Murray was recruited from local band ‘Cannes’ to complete the line up. After rehearsing in a dingey, damp studio under a railway arch in the West End of Glasgow, the band started to play in places such as The Venue (Glasgow), The Preservation Halls (Edinburgh), The Heathery Bar (Wishaw), The Ponda Rosa (Linwood), The Doune Castle (Glasgow) and The Auchinlea Rock Fest in the east end of Glasgow. In May 1985, the band secured a spot at the Kelvingrove Rock Festival with such acts as Lion Rampant, Able Ganz, Zero Zero and Glasgow. Ironically this was to be the last time Blind Allez were to play together for the next 21 years, as both Peter and Ian parted company with the band and went to other projects. Ian went on to form local rock outfit 'Five Past Midnight', while Peter joined another local band 'Chasar' before going on to work on a couple of projects with heavy rock monsters 'Samson'. This was not the end of the band. They went on to recruit Mark Rankin and and David Aitken, then after changing the name of the band to ‘Phobia’ continued to write new material and play live gigs. In 1986, they secured a management contract and eventually, in 1987 they signed a recording contract with A&M Records. The band then changed their name to G.U.N and released their first album ‘Taking On The World’ in 1989, things started to happen for G.U.N very quickly. The first single, ‘Better Days’ became a hit for the line-up of Guliano Gizzi, Mark Rankin on vocals, Stephen ‘Baby’ Stafford on guitar, and Scott Shields on drums. GUN now also featured the talents of Dante Gizzi on bass. He was very much a known quantity, partly as Jools’ brother of course, but also as it was his voice on many of the band’s early demos.  With Top Of The Pops appearances and their video playing on MTV, G.U.N were starting to hit the big time. They supported The Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi and Def Leppard on tour and played their own headline dates for the ‘Taking On The World’ album, the band recorded their 2nd album ‘Gallus’ which was released in 1992 and the album ‘Swagger’ in 1994, which featured their massive hit, a reworking of the Cameo hit ‘Word Up’ Just three years later though, after the release of their 4th album ‘0141 632 6326’ the band basically fell apart, falling victim to record company politics and being pushed into recording issues, the band decided to call it a day and split up in 1997. The original Blind Allez line up got back together to play some gigs in August 2006 at Rockers in Glasgow, their last live performance was on May 9th 2008 as Blind Allez. G.U.N played with various line ups through the years most recently playing Glasgow Barrowlands in December 2023.  Earlier in 2023 Jules and Dante embarked on a two month G.U.N acoustic tour receiving rave reviews like this one from The Scottish Music Network website - “GUN’s acoustic gig at the Bungalow bar on April 9th was a night pure musical magic. Fans of the Scottish rock band were treated to acoustic renditions of some their biggest hits showcasing the bands raw talent and the strength of their song writing”.
