“Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.”
A recording studio favoured by stars including Jerry Lee Lewis, Shane MacGowan and Susan Boyle is offering an exciting new opportunity for students.
Riverside Music Complex, run by East Kilbride brothers Duncan and John Cameron, has a limited number of spaces available on their SQA accredited courses starting this month.
The brothers, acclaimed artists in their own right, are urging talented youngsters to get in touch as soon as possible to secure a place.
Duncan, senior lecturer, said: “We’ve gone from strength to strength since we moved to our current premises, an old converted mill building, 10 years ago.
“Riverside is now one of the UK’s fastest-growing music industry education centres and we’re so proud after all the hard work we’ve put in.
“We have an impressive newly- refurbished campus with two state-of-the-art recording studios, three rehearsal rooms, two lecture theatres and two IT suites.”

Riverside Music Complex started life in 1985 as a commercial recording studio on the back of the brothers’ own deal with Atlantic Records.
Duncan added: “John and I made our debut as traditional musicians releasing our first record aged 10 and seven.
“We later formed punk 70s touring band, Sneeky Pete.
“But by the early 1980s we had become American-styled rockers The Force, and signed to US giants Atlantic, published by Warner Music.”
The early success of the studio was closely linked with the rise of a new generation of Scottish bands like The Jesus and Mary Chain and Teenage Fanclub who were signed to Alan McGee’s Creation Records.
Of course, Creation later signed acts such as Primal Scream and Oasis.
Duncan, who has 40 years’ experience as a musician and sound engineer, added: “This led to us establishing an international and eclectic client base, working with artists like Travis, Big Country, Shane MacGowan, Jerry Lee Lewis, Kate Rusby, The Military Wives Choir and Susan Boyle.
“We were nothing if not versatile!”
The move to establish a music education base came in 2005 when the boys bought an old mill building in Busby.

The college now provides SQA and SAAS -funded HNC and HND courses in Sound Production, Music Performance and Music Business.
Sound Production offers tuition in amongst other things, acoustics, multi- track mixing and recording and Pro Tools.
Music Performance allows students to learn the skills to develop a career as a professional musician.
And Music Business offers the chance to manage the complex’s own independent record label, including A&R scouting, managing the budget and putting out a release.

Duncan said: “Students leave here with a rounded education, a diploma and real-life experience of working in the music industry.
“Riverside has become the place to be for the future pioneers of the music industry to learn their trade.
“Our students benefit from focussed learning in their chosen field and, at the same time, integrate and network with those advancing in other areas of the industry.
